16 spools of copper wire and a mig welder were taken in a burglary of the outside storage area of Westar Energy at 1001 Edison Place between Friday and Saturday.

Someone forced a gate open on the fenced in storage area on the west side of the building and removed the spools of wire after cutting off padlocks. A 2007 Ford F-550 flatbed truck was also stolen, but was later recovered in the 1100 block of Westchester.

Value of the copper wire and welder placed at $5,900.
