Letter to The Post: Vote Yes for No…or is it No for Yes?

Submitted by Dave Dillard

Here is a text message I sent to my pastor shortly after I voted on Friday…

I voted today and was looking forward to voting on the LGBT deal. I read the last question twice to figure out if it was indeed the question about the ordinance.

When I decided that it was the LGBT question, I read it about 3 or 4 more times to figure out how to vote so that my vote registered that I did not want the new ordinance to be put in place.

It was written very differently than anything I had read about it in the paper or on the Post. I asked a question in the polling room but the lady said she was not allowed to offer any advice so she was no help in deciphering the code that was written.

After reading it a couple more times I decided that a NO vote was what I needed to repeal the ordinance.

I think the correct answer to repeal was YES but there was no way I could have figured that out by reading what they had written.

I voted NO thinking that was the way to repeal the ordinance.

Oops…
