A former Salina man will spend 26 years in prison after being convicted of rape and other charges, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.
Jeffrey Shawn Casey, 32, of Norman, Okla., formerly of Salina, was sentenced today to 312 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections by Judge Jerome Hellmer in Saline County District Court. A jury convicted Casey in August on one count of rape, three counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, one count of attempted aggravated criminal sodomy, one count of attempted rape, and one count of aggravated sexual battery.
The crimes occurred in August 2005 in Salina. Casey was living in Oklahoma at the time of his arrest in August, 2010.
Assistant Attorney General Nicole Romine of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Salina Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
