Temperatures will continue to warm through the end of the work week and into the weekend. Temperatures will be in the 70s from Thursday through Saturday before the cold front blows through and knocks temps back down into the 40s.
Southerly winds will continue to get stronger ahead of the cold front with Friday and Saturday having the strongest winds. The winds, cured grasslands and lower relative humidities have pushed the grassland fire danger index into the very high category from Thursday – Saturday.
By Saturday, the cold front will be approaching from the west and the upper level dynamics will be prime for the chance of strong thunderstorms along the front. At this time, we cannot rule out the possibility for a couple of severe storms as well.
