An Abilene man was killed in a single vehicle accident on I-70 near Junction City, shortly before noon Thursday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 48-year-old John A. Kaneaster was westbound on Interstate 70 when he drove off the roadway, across the median, crossing both eastbound lanes of I-70, the eastbound 301 exit ramp and entered the south ditch before striking a tree causing the vehicle to roll onto its top.

Kaneaster was transported to Geary Community Hospital where he later died. A passenger, 13-year-old John Kaneaster Jr was transported to Geary Community Hospital with injuries. His condition was not immediately known.
