Firefighters are working to extinguish a blaze at a Westar Energy plant near Colwich.

The fire at the Gordon Evans Energy Center was reported about 2 a.m. and was still burning at 7 a.m. No injuries have been reported.

Westar spokesman Nicholas Bundy says the fire started in a piece of high voltage equipment. KFDI reports fire officials say about 15,000 gallons of mineral oil used for transformers were on fire.

Frontier Refinery in El Dorado and McConnell Air Force Base have been asked to provide foam trucks to help fight the blaze.
