Susie S. Long, 85, of Salina, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012. She was born Oct. 5, 1927 in Newberry, SC. She graduated from Newberry College Business School.
She married Ralph C. Long on Dec. 25, 1946 in Newberry, SC and they moved to Salina in 1951. They retired in 1986 as owners and operators of Long Oil Company. Westway Truck Stop, area service stations and Russell’s Restaurant were part of their company. Susie was a member of First Presbyterian Church, for over 55 years, where she worked for several years in the nursery. She was involved with the Mornings Out for Mom program and was an avid bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eunice H. (Willingham) Sligh, Holland L. Sligh and Hassie (Stanton) Sligh; husband Ralph C. in 2007, and daughter Terry, in 1973. Survivors include one son,Ross Long, of Salina; one daughter, Cindy Fay and husband Tim, of Inman; one sister, Margaret (Sligh) Hawkins, of Newberry, SC; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at First Presbyterian Church, 308 S. Eighth, Salina. Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in care of Ryan Mortuary.

Kent Schraeder, 55, was born July 19, 1957 and passed away on Dec. 11, 2012, at his home in Salina. He died from complications from a stroke. He is the son of Leo and Dorothy Schraeder of Fort Dodge, KS.
Kent grew in the Timken area and attended schools in Pawnee Heights, Rozel and Great Bend Juco. He worked at Mid Continent Industries in Newton as a sales manager until the time of his illness.
He leaves his grieving children, Haley Schraeder, of the home, Logan Schraeder, of Ft. Bragg, NC and Ezra Schraeder, of Wichita; his parents and three brothers, Mark (Alice), of Scottsdale, AZ, Ward (Trish), of Salina and Bryce (Greys), of Vero Beach, FL.
Cremation has been chosen. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at Hope Lutheran Church in Rush Center. Private inurnment services will be at a later date.
