Winter Storm Watch For Saline County Wednesday

Screen Shot 2012-12-18 at 6.20.09 AMA strong winter storm is expected to impact the area Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night. Snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected across portions of Central Kansas, especially north of Interstate 70, with locally higher amounts in northern Russell and Lincoln counties.

Lesser amounts of snow are forecast as you travel further south. The bigger concern with this storm system is strong north winds between 25 and 40 mph with gusts over 45 mph expected.

This will cause near blizzard conditions with considerable blowing and drifting snow and white-out conditions from reduced visibilities. This will lead to very dangerous travel conditions through Thursday morning.

  • TODAY: Sunny, with a high near 58. West wind 6 to 8 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.
  • TONIGHT: Increasing clouds, with a low around 33. East wind 6 to 10 mph.
