A 27-year-old Salina man who authorites were looking for in connection with a stolen pickup is in the Saline County Jail on charges of fleeing and eluding, felony fleeing and eluding, burglary, suspended drivers licence, felony theft, and damage to property.
Zachary Vanbebber was taken into custody by Saline County Sheriff’s Deputies in the 300 block of N. Phillips around 11:00 AM Monday, while executing a search warrant on an unrelated case.
Vanbebber is alleged to have stolen a 1983 GMC pickup Sunday night from Bill Adams Cabinets, at 709 Bishop.
A sheriff’s deputy tried to stop the pickup in central Salina just before midnight on a traffic stop, and Vanbebber got out of the pickup and ran.
A passenger that was in the pickup was not charged and released.
There was $600 damage at the shop where siding was peeled back and plywood damaged to gain entry inside the building to get the keys to the pickup.
