The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. A nation with good intentions towards its people usually ends up holding its people hostage to those good intentions. Welcome to the “New” United States of America, where eveyone is treated equally in all aspects of life, regardless of the consequences to some. As long as the majority of the citizenry is happy, nothing else matters, including the laws of the land, the laws of nature and the laws of God.
During my three quarters of a century in this country, I have experienced the necessary good intentions of the government to make sure its people received fair treatment: The Social Security Act, The Civil Rights Act, The Welfare Reform Act, The Americans With Disabilities Act, Title IX in the schools, The Clean Air Act, and most recently the Health Care Act. All have good intentions…all effect some folk in a negative way. All add to the cost of government, which means, all adds to the price people must pay to have a government that is fair and has good intentions. Not just in individual and business taxes, but in the cost of producing materials and goods, resulting in high cost to purchase said goods and materials.
I am all for fairness, but fairness applies to all and in all ways. To deprive someone of their rights and privileges so someone else can have a set of rights and privileges is not fair. Like it or not, the government was never designed to be all things to all people. In an attempt to do so, the nation is being held hostage by its government. Such actions can only result in disaster.
