The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is working to determine the cause of a house fire in Colby on Saturday that took the life of a young woman.

On Saturday, a 27-year-old woman was located by fire crews responding to a house fire at 125 Chickamauga Street. The woman was unresponsive and taken to Citizen’s Medical Center in Colby. She died a short time later.

Colby authorities told Hays Post that the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office, the State Fire Marshall’s Office and members of the Kansas Highway Patrol have now joined the investigation.
