UPDATE:
Salina Police release few details concerning the death of an infant girl. Lt. Sean Morton says the girl was under the age of one and had significant health issues. The child was taken to Salina Regional Health Center Monday before being transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
An autopsy is to be performed in Wichita. Morton says results to determine cause of death may take sometime before being released.
Morton said the investigation is in the very early stages. Information on what part of town the infant lived was not released.
Salina police are investigating the death of baby girl as a possible case of child abuse.
The baby’s name and age have not been released.
The child was brought Monday from Salina to Wichita’s Wesley Medical Center. She died Tuesday afternoon.
Doctors called Wichita police after X-rays showed the baby had 13 broken bones in various stages of healing.
The Salina Police Department has taken over the investigation.
