I have been in Salina for more then 25 years and I have seen a lot of issues with illegals.
They have been showing up to job sites and other businesses in search of work. It is interesting at the fact that they offer to work for less and under bid local companies so that they can’t even compete with the price.
There is no way that a company with workers, insurance, and all other costs that a legal business must have to run correctly, can afford. Also I was recently looking for some work to be done to my home, when I had a crew showed up to make a bid. I felt uncomfortable when only one was able to speak English. Then when I asked if they were licensed and insured, they said Yes. Well I ask for their insurance company to send me a copy of there insurance or have them bring one with the bid. A few days later they came back on the bid, but it didn’t have a company name, no insurance and also the bid was almost $3,500 cheaper then any other bid that I received.
I am one to usually go with the cheapest but in this case, “more is better” do to the facts of the situation. I wanted to inform the public to check before you hire someone to do work on your house.
Also I will always support local businesses, but you must be legal to provide information showing you are able to do the work.
