An Abilene man was arrested early Thursday morning, after verbally assaulting and bumping into the car of a Smolan man delivering news papers.

53-year-old Mayo Morgan says that between 2:00am and 3:00 am 29-year-old Kyle Weller got out of his pickup when Morgan was on Shannon Drive, and began swearing at him.

Morgan said after that incident, Weller followed him on County Club Road both eastbound and westbound where at times speeds reached 70 to 90 mph, then south on Marymount Road to Crawford Street where Weller bumped Morgan’s car with his pickup.

Morgan called police and Weller continued to follow Morgan to the parking lot of Kwik Shop and then back on Marymount Road to Iron where Weller went north on Ohio. Morgan went to the Salina Police Department, and Weller was stopped a short time later.

There was some damage to Morgan’s car.

Weller was arrested on charges of D.U.I., aggravated assault, damage to property, and reckless driving.
