swe30314David K. Sweley, 70, of Salina, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013. He was born August 11, 1942, in Salina, the son of Richard and Lois Sweley.

Dave graduated from Salina High in 1960 and Kansas State in 1967. He managed a farm and hog operation for Dean Evans, was vice president for EVCO Distributing Co and was a New York Life Insurance agent in Salina. During this time he was active in Salina Jaycees, managed the Salina Charity Horse Show, was on the founding board of the Smoky Hill River Festival and served as Deacon and Elder at Sunrise Presbyterian Church. In 1980, Dave received a Master of Divinity degree from Dubuque Seminary. Following ordination he served Presbyterian churches in Gordon, NE and Garden City, KS. He founded Willow Tree Festival, started a food pantry, served as a volunteer for fire and rescue, and was active in Lions Club of Gordon. In Garden City he founded Tumbleweed Festival, participated in Lions Club and was honored for his work with United Way, CASA, Habitat for Humanity, and Family Crisis. He and his wife Cheryl served in several offices for National Presbyterian Mariners. Upon retirement Dave moved back to Salina and was a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church and Rotary. He enjoyed reading, traveling and playing bridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl; daughter, Stephanie and husband David, of Ft. Collins, CO; son, Sean and wife Dani, of Clovis, NM; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12-8 pm, with the family receiving friends from 5-7 pm, Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Ryan Mortuary. Memorial service will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 825, E. Beloit Ave., Salina. Inurnment will be at a later date in Gordon, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Sunrise Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Salina, left in care of the mortuary.

Beverly A. Krall, 75, of Salina, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, after a 15-year battle with multiple myeloma. She was born March 8, 1938, in Ashland, Ohio, to Byron and Naomi (Wood) Easterday.

Beverly graduated from Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio, in 1960, and received a master’s degreefrom Kent State University. She taught high school English and literature for many years in Chicago before retiring. Beverly was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She attended Sunrise Presbyterian Church.

Beverly cherished her many friendships and had a great love for fine arts and kitties.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Robert Lawrence Easterday.

She is survived by a cousin, Linda (Max) Redding, of Salina, and numerous other cousins; and many close friends.

Cremation was chosen and no services are planned. Inurnment will be at a later date at Ashland Cemetery, Ashland.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina.

2006071Jennifer E. Munoz, 44, Tescott, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born May 17, 1968 in Kansas City, KS to Paul and Merilyn (Williams) Reinking.

Jennifer and Ron Munoz were united in marriage on April 13, 1994 and she was a devoted mother to her four girls. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salina. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her daughter Chloe.

Survivors include her husband Ron; daughters Alexis, Taylor, Elizabeth, and Grace all of the home; parents Paul and Merilyn Reinking of Tescott.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday at the Beverly Community Church, Beverly. Private family burial will be in Franklin Cemetery, Tescott. Memorials may be made payable to Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467 to assist with expenses.

2015295Mildred LaFaye Hudson, 72, Minneapolis, went to be with her Lord and savior on Friday, March 15, 2013 after a short stay at the Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis. LaFaye was born May 25, 1940 in Midland, TX to A.L. and Mildred Woods.

LaFaye was a graduate of Big Springs High School in Big Springs, TX. She was united in marriage with Bobby K. Hudson on May 5, 1956 in Midland, TX. LaFaye was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the local bridge club. She was also lifetime member of the P.T.A. and she was a chaperone for the Miss Kansas pageant in 1969. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-father Bill Petrosky.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Bobby Hudson; children Cheryle Hardesty and her husband Dave, Charlotte Collins and her companion Mike Bishop, Johnny Hudson and his companion Jen Fraser, Sherrie Bertrand and her husband Bruce, and Charlene Nielsen and her husband Jay; brother DallasWoods and his wife Dorothy; sister Velena Allen and her husband Kirby; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

LaFaye was a truly compassionate and giving person and her legacy will reach others as she chose to be an organ donor.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 P.M., Monday, March 18 at the First United Methodist Church, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 7 P.M. Sunday at Wilson Family Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Noah’s Ark Preschool and may be left in care of the funeral home.
