An Abilene man in the Saline County Jail on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, battery, criminal restraint, driving while revoked, and expired insurance, following an incident just east of Salina late Tuesday night.
According to Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski, 20 year old Richard Fowler confronted a former girlfriend 18 year old Tayler Gentry of Salina just before 11:00pm after she left work at Holiday Resort.
Gentry had pulled over near the Scholar Elevator on County Club Road to change a flat tire when Fowler pulled up behind her car in a pickup.
After getting into an argument, Fowler broke a cell phone of Gentry, and forced Gentry into his pickup. She started honking the horn of the pickup to get attention of people in the area and was able to get out of the truck, back into her car and she drove east on County Club to Simpson where she turned south. Fowler followed her to near the intersection of Simpson Road and East Crawford when he forced her car into a ditch. A motorist passing by called authorities.
Fowler was stopped by a deputy responding to what was believed to have been a non injury accident, and Fowler was taken back to the scene and then placed under arrest.
