Deputies of the Saline County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sobriety checkpoint the early morning hours of April 20, 2013. These checkpoints are designed to identify impaired drivers and remove them from our roadways. Those motorists suspected of intoxication were given field sobriety tests. All motorists who failed were arrested for driving under the influence.
During this checkpoint, 77 cars were stopped between the hours of 12:00 AM and 2:00 AM. There were 2 DUI arrests made & there was 1 citation issued for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
The intent is to reduce injury crashes and fatalities attributed to alcohol. Periodic checkpoints will be set up throughout the year at various locations in Salina and Saline County.
All efforts were made not to severely interrupt traffic flow. The Saline County Sheriff’s Office would like to commend the motorists that were stopped for their patience and cooperation.
