Teens Could Be Charged In Vandalism Of Rural Cemetery

cementery vandalismThe Saline County Sheriffs Office has sent information to the County Attorney’s Office for review to determine if two teenage boys will be charged with vandalism at a cemetery near Smolan in late April.

Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says deputies have determined that a 13-year- old Smolan boy, and a 15-year-old boy from Salina are responsible for for pushing over and causing damage to headstones in the Smolan Cemetery in the 4800 block of S. Burma road between April 19th and April 21st.

The damage total is under $1,000.

Kochanowski says the two teens could be charged with criminal desecration of a grave.
