KASA Companies Expanding And Automating Paint Line At KASA Fab

kasa fab(May 31, 2013)-Kasa Companies, Inc. is planning on expanding and automating the paint line at Kasa Fab. The $700,000 capital investment expansion will occur at 304 E. Avenue B in Salina, Kansas and will generate an estimated 13 quality jobs over the next 10 years.

The automated 5-stage wash and powder coating system will increase part throughput, provide energy cost savings and decrease chemical usage.

In addition to the paint line, Kasa Fab is adding a high definition automated plasma to its existing laser cutting capabilities, allowing thicker materials to be cut more cost effectively.

Brad Strathe, CFO and President, said “The additional equipment allows us to increase our capacity by at least 40%. The automated paint line will be a showcase for lean finishing. Lean’s basic principles in manufacturing are to reduce waste and increase value to the customer.

Compared to other automated paint systems, this system is definitely a game changer with its long-term value, flexibility and overall return on asset value. “

The “lean” paint line will be designed and installed by IntelliFinishing which was launched by Kasa Companies in October 2010. The system will also be used by IntelliFinishing for research and development, training, and demonstrations to potential customers.

IntelliFinishing has been installing multi-million dollar paint lines in the U.S. and internationally and was recently recognized by Caterpillar as one of their top suppliers.

The Salina Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Saline County and the Kansas Department of Commerce, worked with Kasa Companies to secure the project for Salina and Kansas.
