Efforts are underway to mill off the surface of K-143 followed by an asphalt overlay. K-143 begins at the K-143/US-81 Interchange then east to Old 81 then south to the K-143/ I-70 Interchange.

During construction traffic is reduced to one lane and is being controlled by flaggers during daylight hours. Plans call for this project to be completed on or about July 10th weather permitting.

The purpose of this project is to extend the life of the highway while improving the ride experienced by travelers.
