Lt. Siemsen, of the  Salina Police Department informed the Salina Post that from July 3rd to July 5th there were 88 calls in reference to fireworks. Lt. Siemsen said that is down some from the July 4th holiday in 2012. The calls were generally related to shooting fireworks in the street, shooting them after hours and shooting fireworks on property without permission. There were no major injuries reported this year in relation to fireworks in the city of Salina.

The Saline County Sheriff Department informed the Salina Post that on July 3rd there were 7 fires that were firework related. Total property damage totaled to $750.00 when one fire spread to some wheat that was not harvested yet. The other 6 fires were in fields that were already harvested. On July 4th there were 2 fires and no damage came from them.
