The wife of President Dwight D. Eisenhower will be featured Monday evening from 8:00p.m.-9:30p.m. on C-SPAN.

Mamie Eisenhower had limited relations with the media – holding only one press conference as First Lady. But she was very popular – her pink strapless gowns and signature bangs made her a regular on “best dressed” lists.

When her husband – General Dwight Eisenhower – was appointed Commander of U.S. forces in Europe, an article in the Washington Post reported “She’s a career woman – her career is Ike.”

She took charge of running the White House, conducting white glove inspections, and approving all menus for a record-setting number of state visits. But because she suffered from an inner ear condition, she had to spend part of her day working from bed.

On November 4th, we’ll be LIVE from inside the Eisenhower Farm in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Purchased in 1950, they spent time there for the rest of their lives, including during the White House years.
