The Salina Post had a chance to sit down with Michelle and learn about all the amazing things she does for the community. From being Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts to Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina, Michelle does it all.
For the past 3 years Michelle has been a Scout Troop Leader for 15 girls while simultaneously working her leadership roll with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is her main focus, “Being able to set the vision for the agency, who we are and where we are going,” she said.
Michelle also expressed how much she appreciates the amazing individuals, staff and board of directors with whom she works. ”They are unbelievable,” she told us.
Michelle also helps teach Leadership Salina through the Salina Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Salina Community Foundation. She says, “It’s about helping teach people to be better leaders in our community.”
When talking with Michelle you notice how balanced she keeps her life. Even with her volunteer work and her career, she expressed how important it is to have friends and family time. From playing Bunco to attending her Book Club, she makes sure to incorporate relaxation time into her schedule.
With so many things on her agenda, you would definitely need a good support team, and Michelle expressed how important the support from her coworkers, friends, family and especially her husband are to her. “The support is what keeps me going.”
Thank you and congratulations, Michelle, for exemplifying the character of a Salina Post & Bank VI Hero of the Week
