While Salina Police were checking on a residential burglary report Thanksgiving, it leads to the arrest of two people for burglary, and The I-135/I-70 Drug Task Force seeking several drug charges against the occupants of the house.
Just before 5p.m. Officers found 23-year-old Sharay Martinez and 22 year-old Jesus Martinez inside the home at 844 E. Minneapolis, after a neighbor called police after watching a two people try to get into the home.
Officers called the Drug Task Force after finding marijuana out in plain view. With a search warrant the DTF recovered about a pound of high-grade marijuana, a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun and also drug paraphernalia.
Task Force Commander Lt. Jim Norton said the marijuana which was in several baggies, had been part of a 3 to 4 pound package of pot mailed from California.
Drug charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute are being sought against the occupants of the home Adrian Suarez, Kennedy Silay, and Dolce Galviz.
Both Sharay Martinez and Jesus Martinez were arrested on charges of burglary and attempted theft.
