A citizens tip in Ford County has led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man wanted for the rape of a teenage girl in Saline County in 2012.

Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said Jerry Watkins was taken into custody Tuesday in Dodge City for the rape of a 15-year-old Salina girl in a car on a county road in northwest Saline County on October 5th, 2012.

Kochanowski said that repeated messages in the media helped with the arrest of Watkins, who had been living in Ensign, Kansas.

A warrant for his arrest was issued after the rape was reported last year.
