The Greater Salina Community Foundation is pleased to announce a call for grant applications from the L.P. Pat Mullen Fund, a field of interest fund for the education of youth with regard to arts, humanities, technology, invention, and science. Two separate applications are available for the grants, one in the area of Arts & Humanities and one in the area of Science, Technology and Invention.

These grant programs are named for L.P. “Pat” Mullen. Mr. Mullen was a self-taught engineer and inventor. He was a life-long Salina native who valued innovation and education. Through a gift from his estate the Foundation established a field of interest fund to create grants for the education of youth in the areas of arts and humanities, technology, invention, and science.

Grants are limited to programs or projects that serve youth up to and through high school and within Saline County. Successful applications should encourage hands-on learning opportunities. Grants can be used for the advancement or enhancement of an existing program or for a new program. Multi- year grants may be awarded at the discretion of the selection committee.

Approximately $16,500 will be available for Science, Technology & Invention grants and approximately $20,500 will be available for the Arts & Humanities grants. Grant applications are due January 28, 2014. Grants will be announced in March.
