Congratulations to Debbie Rivers, BANK VI Salina Hero of the Week!

Debbie started a group called Acts of Kindness and their success is phenomenal. Debbie’s favorite  Act of Kindness that the group has done so far was providing a solar powered light to every house in a neighborhood on the north side of town, there were over 200 houses that got a solar light. Debbie spoke of how dark the neighborhood was, that there wasn’t even adequate street lighting.

Another outing was on a cold winter day, Debbie and a group of others took three vehicles and stopped at the bus stops and handed out hot chocolate, gloves and hats. “If you are out there and have your ears and eyes open, you can help meet needs”, Debbie stated. One of Debbie’s goals is to restore hope, sometimes people become cynical and people need to know that there are good people out in the world.

Debbie spoke of how it takes all types of people to make this happen. From people who go out and do the events to others who want to donate to help fund them.
