In Monday night’s City Commissioners Meeting, concealed firearms were the hot topic.

City Manager, Jason Gage, said we are not going to spend time or money on facilities where there is not much foot traffic, hardly anyone uses some facilities. Security will be focused on high traffic buildings.

This is all in regards to a state law that addresses all state buildings and all county buildings except for public schools, the intent of the law is to allow conceal carry in the buildings or have adequate security in builds that do not allow concealed carry. Adequate security would mean an armed guard as well as electronic equipment that can detect guns. Furthermore, the law only applies to public doors, not doors that are for employees only.

During the open mic, a citizen stated, “Our state legislatures passed this law. Their intent of this law was to protect the rights of the citizens as a whole.”

Commissioner Householter, argued the point that the first time something happens in any of these buildings concealed carry holders will be blamed, he also stated he is pro-guns and owns firearms himself.

Nothing was decided tonight, it was only a concealed carry discussion.
