AP:Gov. Sam Brownback said Monday that a five-year, $80 million plan he expects to propose next month would allow all kindergarten students in Kansas public schools to attend full-day programs with the state picking up the bill.

USD 305 Superintendent, William Hall, said to the Salina Post,”Students attending all-day kindergarten programs  have more opportunity for long-term benefits since the curriculum can be covered more thoroughly.  Reading and math programs are designed for full-day kindergarten.  The full-day students have increased chances for success in first and second grades, more opportunity for social and emotional support, access to more vocabulary, enrichment programs, physical education and even lunch.”
