Kansas Wesleyan University has announced the appointment of Bob Frey as interim football coach following the resignation of Dave Dallas last month.
Frey has served as defensive coordinator at Kansas Wesleyan since 2010 and also has served as head coach of the Salina Bombers, an indoor football team in the Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL).

“We are fortunate to have someone with Bob’s experience on staff to serve as the interim head coach during this time of transition,” Kansas Wesleyan Director of Athletics Mike Hermann said. “I’m confident that Bob and the rest of the football staff will keep our program moving in a positive direction during this transition. With the spring semester starting this week, this is a critical time for academic achievement, conditioning and recruiting. I want to thank Bob for taking on this additional leadership responsibility.”

Frey has extensive experience serving as a coach in multiple capacities. He served as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Anna Maria College (Mass.) in its inaugural football season in 2009. Before Anna Maria, he spent three seasons at Olivet (Mich.) where he helped the Comets to the 2007 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and an appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs.

He also spent three seasons at Trine (Ind.) as head coach. Before Trine, Frey had a successful nine-year stint at MacMurray (Ill.) as head coach, leading the team to six conference championships including four of the best records in program history. He was named Coach of the Year seven times.

Frey’s appointment as interim coach will remain until a new head coach is hired.
