A Dickinson County couple has reported to law enforcement that they were nearly a victim of an on-line scam concerning Social Security.
Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said the couple recently received a letter in the mail from the Social Security Administration confirming a change of address to send Social Security checks made on-line.
The couple contacted the Social Security office to say they had not set up an on-line account, and was able to prevent to any loss. Kochanowski said that Social Security recipients can prevent on-line accounts being set up, by having their accounts blocked .
In order to block the account, you will need to visit your local Social Security Office. The couple first contacted the Saline County Sheriff’s Office before they contacted the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
