Man arrested on drug charges and running from police

Salina PD ShieldPolice arrest a 20-year-old Salina man early Thursday on drug charges, who is also wanted for running from police early Wednesday morning.

Captain Mike Sweeney said Blake Nicol bailed out of a car in the 600 block of University after leading police on a brief chase that began just before 1:00a.m. Wednesday morning in the 100 block of Baker.

Then about 2:45a.m. Thursday morning, a police officer saw Nichol driving a silver mini van leaving the Traveler’s Lodge and followed it to the Village Inn at 4:53 S. Broadway. The Officer saw Nichol get out of the van and go into a room .

Officers cleared the motel room of other occupants and ordered Nichol out of the bathroom where he was hiding. Nichol came out of the bathroom but ran from officers who were able to catch him in the parking lot of the motel.

Police found four baggies of methamphetamine in the bathroom, two in the toilet and two more in a small black case on the back of the toilet. They also found digital scales in the bathroom.

Nichol faces charges of possession of meth with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Nichol will also be charged with fleeing and eluding and criminal possession of a firearm, after police found a gun in the car that Nichol jumped out of Wednesday morning.
