Westar to assist with LIEAP signup in Salina

LIEAPThe Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is a federally funded program that helps eligible households pay a portion of their home energy costs by providing a one time per year benefit.

In order to qualify, applicants must be living at the address, be personally responsible for utilities at the residence, demonstrate a recent history of payments, and have a combined gross income (before deductions) of all persons living at the address that does not exceed 130% of the federal poverty level. If you are unsure if you meet the guidelines or have additional questions, please call LIEAP at 1-800-432-0043.

Studies have shown that a large portion of the residents in Kansas who may qualify are unaware of the program. If you think you may qualify for LIEAP assistance, a Westar Energy Customer Advisor will be available to assist you with the completion of the LIEAP application on Monday, February 10, between 11AM-6PM at Salina Emergency Aid/Food Bank, 255 S Chicago, Salina. Please bring proof of income for all members of the household, Social Security numbers for all members of the household and utility account numbers.
