Law enforcement involved in chase with semi

Law enforcement was involved in high speed chase early Thursday morning that began in Abilene and went west into Saline County.

The chase began around 5am, in Abilene after a Semi hauling a cattle trailer nearly hit a police car and was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The chase went westbound on old highway 40 toward Salina at speeds according to police radio traffic were 70 mph.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Salina Police Department,and Kansas Highway Patrol.

The chase entered Salina on Ohio Street went southbound at speeds of 30 to 50 mph through Salina. The chase went westbound on Waterwell Road from Ohio Street.

It appeared the chase ended on Waterwell Road near Fairchilds Road just before 5:40a.m. One person was taken into custody.

More details will be available later Thursday after briefing with law enforcement.
