Law enforcement conducts warrant sweep Monday

handcuffsLaw enforcement officers were busy in Salina and Saline County Monday with a warrant sweep.

A total of 28 officers from the Salina Police Department, Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas State Parole Fugitive Task Force, Kansas Department of Corrections, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Abilene Police Department and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the sweep.

Officers attempted a total of 276 warrants and as a result of this sweep 54 Municipal were cleared 9 of those were paid in full, 11 District, 3 Out of County and 3 State Parole warrants were cleared by arrest. 45 people were arrested during the sweep.

Salina Police Master Patrol Officer Brent Rupert said the warrants ranged from parking citations to domestic violence cases. Rupert said that one man upon learning about the warrant sweep turned himself in Monday, and that several people were making arrangements with Rupert and going into court Tuesday morning to clear up outstanding warrants .

During the sweep many contacts were made and information was obtained to assist in the apprehension of several other suspects in the future. These warrant sweeps are very successful and additional sweeps will be added to reduce the number of active warrants.

Rupert added that each Thursday Salina Municipal Court conducts a Walk-in court that begins at 7:45a.m. It is suggested that you arrive between 7-7:15a.m. if you would like to appear before the Municipal Court Judges to make arrangements to handle outstanding warrants.
