In addition to Kansas Wesleyan’s successes on the field of competition this fall, the Coyotes also experienced great successes in the classroom.
As a whole, the athletic department had an average team GPA of 3.128 during the fall semester, led by the softball team with a 3.630 team GPA. Fourteen of the 18 athletic programs (indoor and outdoor track are combined) achieved team GPAs over 3.0.
Individually, the successes in the classroom are impressive as well. There were 47 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs in the semester and a total of 185 student-athletes that were named to either the Dean’s or President’s Honor Rolls. The Dean’s Honor Roll honors students with a 3.25 to 3.74 GPA each semester and the President’s Honor Roll honors those earning at least a 3.75 GPA each semester.
Wesleyan had 18 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes in the fall, the fourth highest total in the conference behind Tabor (25) and Friends and Saint Mary (19).
The Coyotes also had seven Capital One Academic All-District selections in an increasingly difficult College Division District 3, which includes four-year institutions and junior colleges from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Two of KWU’s football All-District selections continued on to earn Capital One College Division Football Academic All-America status. The total of seven Academic All-Districts and two Academic All-Americans topped the list for the conference.
Wesleyan also nominated 39 student-athletes for Academic All-KCAC honors from the fall.
