Donley Scores 37 points in loss, Southeast Wins

SESOn Tuesday night the Lady Trojans would try to move into the Class 3A sub-state semifinals. To accomplish that, they would have to beat Sacred Heart for the third time this season.

SES led the entire game but the Lady Knights were tough down the stretch. They would pull within 2 points on several occasions in the third quarter. However, Southeast would stretch its lead to 15 points early in the 4th quarter and post a 50-35 score. Sacred Heart would jump on the back of sophomore Cara Donley the rest of the way. Donley would score 20 4th quarter points in a sensational offensive performance and make it a 1 point game. Donley would end the game with 37 points but Southeast would hit 10 of 12 from the free throw line in the final quarter to clinch a 59-55 victory.

Eric Montgomery led a balanced attack for Southeast of Saline with 12 points, Calli Calahan, Delani White and Kylee Thaxton had 9, Linzy Kaniper and Kylee Poague scored 8 each, Allison Stutterheim had 4 points.

Southeast of Saline (14-7) will play in Marion on Friday with the time and opponent to be determined.
