Win and advance. That is the theme for the week as area high school teams move through various sub-state basketball brackets. Last night, the Southeast of Saline guys put an impressive show on, eliminating Hutchinson-Trinity 73-49. Senior Ben Stutterheim led four Trojans in double-digit scoring with 15. Easton Montgomery tallied 14, Jackson Montgomery had 13 and Kayden Besher scored 11 in the balanced attack.
The Trojans will play Sacred Heart on Thursday. The Knights advanced by defeating Haven 56-42. The Saline County rivals split during the regular season. The Trojans and the Knights will play at 6:00 pm Thursday in Marion.
The Southeast of Saline girls will host Sacred Heart tonight to open the ladies sub-state bracket. SES swept the regular season and enters the bracket as the #2 seed. The game tonight will start at 7:00 pm and can be heard on 99KG and Salina Post.
