A semi truck is destroyed by fire early Thursday morning while it was parked near the Farmers and Ranchers Livestock just west of Salina at 1500 W Old Highway 40.

Lt. Brent Melander with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office said 24 year old Cody Ford of Frankfort Kansas was asleep in his 2001 Kenworth, when around 3:45 a.m.a passerby woke him up to tell him the semi was on fire. The semi had been parked since about 12:30a.m. Thursday morning.

Saline County Fire District #7 responded to the fire.

The trailer of the semi was empty. Cause of the fire is unknown. Estimated loss is $43,000.
