A 53-year-old Salina man is out more than $4,000 after cashing a check from a woman he met through an online dating service.

Salina Police Captain Chris Trocheck said the man cashed the check at his bank on the morning of March 13th after the woman asked him to put the money into his bank account and then wire money to someone in Florida where they would pay her bills.

The man wired the money in two separate transactions and later learned from his bank the check was no good. Total loss is $4,419.
