Salina Police Department patrol cars are getting a new look.

Captain Sean Morton said that following a collision recently that damaged a patrol car, a car used by investigators was painted with a new look that will match about a half dozen Ford Explorers that will be placed into service in either May or June.

The new paint style is all black with large white lettering on the side.

Morton said the department is going with the Explorer as the new patrol vehicle because Ford no longer makes the Crown Victoria police vehicle.
