Alcohol is a factor in a one car crash about a mile west of Brookville Friday evening.

Saline County Sheriff’s Captain Roger Soldan said 68-year-old James Brown of Ellsworth was westbound on K-140 about 6:40pm when his car, a 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible went on the north shoulder of the road, Brown over-corrected and the car went off the road on the south side of the highway, struck a field entrance , became airborne the came to rest in a group of trees.

Brown who suffered a compound fracture to a leg and broken ribs was first taken to Salina Regional Health Center, then later transferred to a Wichita hospital for treatment of injuries.
