USD 305 Holds Press Conference Regarding Threats Towards Central High School

usd305USD 305 Superintendent, William Hall and Capt. Sweeney of the Salina Police Department held a news conference today regarding the threats issued in a note to Salina Central High School.

A note was found on the property of Central High containing a threat that warranted increased security. A cell phone was also found at Central High that had been damaged by a bullet. These two items were not found together but are presumed to be related to the same issue.

Capt. Sweeney advised no additional information was available regarding the issue and that the threat is under investigation. He also stated that the person or persons responsible would be facing felony charges when caught.

Security at Central High was increased today and will also be increased tomorrow. Patrol units around South High have also been increased.

Central Highs attendance was down 15% today, that equates to approximately 150 students. Superintendent Hall did not have an exact amount of students that missed due to the threat but said that the number is higher than normal. He further stated that as long as the parents call in the absence, it will be excused.

Additionally, Capt. Sweeney does not believe that the 150 weapons stolen from Cleve’s Marine and this threat are related, but he is not ruling it out.
