Today was Mayor Barb Shirley’s last day as Mayor of Salina. She thanked the commissioners and city staff for all the support and help over the last year. She spoke of some family issues that took place and thanked the commissioners for always stepping up to help.

Additionally, Aaron Householter was sworn in as the new Mayor of Salina. Mayor Householter presented Mayor Barb Shirley with a plaque and a gavel in appreciation for her term as mayor.

Mayor Householter then officially took his seat as mayor. Mayor Householter also wanted to thank the city staff and his fellow commissioners for all the work they have done.

The Salina Post had a chance to speak to Mayor Householter after tonights meeting. When asked what are some of your goals for your term, Householter said, “It’s really about community engagement, if you have an opinion come to the meeting or give us a call.” Mayor Householter also talked about revitalizing downtown and cleaning up the city.
