One man has been arrested and more arrest are possible in a case where business checks stolen during a burglary in March were forged and cashed at four locations in Salina.
25-year-old Mathue Halpain is alleged to have cashed three checks taken from Cabinets Etc at 920 E. North, during a burglary on March 6th.
Police Captain Mike Sweeney said Halpain cashed checks at Pump Mart, 1118 N. 9th for 878.46 on April 10th, At Check Into Cash, 2100 S. 9th for 925.10 on April 13th, and Quick Cash, 2146 Planet Ave for $885 on April 14th.
A fourth check stolen was cashed on March 14th at Speedy Cash,1220 W. Crawford for 878.92.
Halpain was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges that include six counts of forgery, and felony theft.
