Shipton Road from Wasserman Way to Ohio Street will be closed beginning Tuesday May 6th in the morning to permit a crew from Saline County Road and Bridge Department to make necessary repairs to the pavement subgrade.
At the same time a crew from APAC-Kansas, Inc., Shears Division will begin pavement patching on Shipton Road between Hwy. K-143 and Wasserman Way but this section of road will remain open to traffic. In order to accomplish this work, several pieces of heavy construction equipment will be operating within the Shipton Road travelway which is very narrow.
The public should expect delays, follow the instructions of flagmen, and exercise additional caution while traveling the open section of Shipton Road while construction is underway. After completion of this preparatory work, APAC will place an asphalt overlay on Shipton Road from Hwy. K-143 to Ohio Street.
It is anticipated that all construction activity will be completed on or before May 16th and Shipton Road reopened to traffic. Of course, completion of the project by this date is dependent on the weather.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and allow a few extra minutes of travel time to reach their destinations. Local and emergency traffic will be provided access to private properties within the closed section of Shipton Road at all times but only from the side of the moving work zone that their properties lies upon.
