A man severely burned in a house fire late Wednesday morning, died Wednesday afternoon at Via-Christi St. Francis hospital in Wichita. Salina Police said the victim was 49-year-old
Darrell Pattillo.

Fire crews were called to 150 Florida at 11am and found the house and garage involved in fire on their arrival.

Pattillo was found east of the home by EMS crews, who transported him to Salina Regional Health Center, before being flown to Wichita. He had gone into the house to rescue a dog. One dog was saved, while another one died.

It has been determined that the fire was electrical and started in the garage by a freezer.

Williams estimated the damage to contents and the structure would be around $65,000.
