12:45 p.m. UPDATE  ABILENE-   The Friday morning grass fire west of Abilene was quickly extinguished.

Fire crews from the city of Abilene and Grant Township responded to the scene.  According to the Abilene Fire Department this fire started as a controlled burn. It got out of control and into some wheat stubble.

There were no injuries .

 

11:08 a.m.    Fire crews have been dispatched to a grass fire just west of the Russell Stover outlet, I-70 and exit 270.  Several areas are reported burning.
