Kansas WorkforceONE has been awarded a grant through the Department For Children and Families to deliver the Work For Success Program in Salina, Kansas. Work For Success will assist fathers who are receiving government assistance and owe child support by providing services that will prepare them to find sustained employment, pay child support, and improve their family relationships.

The program will consist of elements including intensive work readiness training, Quenching the Father-Thirst training, financial management training, relational skills training, family violence prevention, mentoring, and on-the-job training.

Salina has a high population of fathers who are on assistance and in arrears on child support.
This program will have a huge impact, not only on fathers, but the community as a whole.

Employers in the community have a strong need for qualified, motivated employees and participants who graduate from this program will help fulfill that need. In addition, the quality of life for their families will be improved upon completion of the program and resuming child support payments.

Kansas WorkforceONE would like to involve members of the community in this project. Volunteer opportunities are available now for Mentors. The time commitment required is
minimal, but the impact will be incredibly valuable.

The Salina Area Chamber of Commerce will host an informational meeting for individuals interested in volunteering. The meeting will be held May 30, 2014 at the Salina Chamber Annex room at 1:00 PM.
