This weeks BANK VI Hero of the Week is Joe Komlofske.

Komlofske has been bringing live music to retirement home communities in Salina for fifteen years. Every week, he performs solo at various retirement homes playing songs for residents on various instruments. He also plays regularly with a group called Gabby and the Guys.
When Salina Post asked why he spends his free time this way, Komlofske said, “I just enjoy seeing the smiles on their faces, their toes tapping; some will even get up and dance. Sometimes, they sing along and might even cry if I play something they remember dancing with their spouse to, perhaps even their last dance together. But, it’s a good, happy cry.”

Komlofskes’ passion for music started as a child. Music was included in many Komlofske family gatherings.
